This page is dedicated to providing you with information about the JET Program. Please read everything on the following pages to get an idea of what the JET Program is about, and how to prepare for an eventual departure. I will do my best to cover everything I can think of, but if you have any specific questions, do not hesitate to email me.  And now, a description of the information I can provide you with.

- Why the JET Program?-

An overview of the JET Program and what it is.

- What is the application process?-

This section will introduce the application process to you as well as give you some handy advice on filling out the actual application. The requirements for participation on the JET Program are also found here.

- Now what? -

The waiting game. From the time you mail in your application to the time that you actually get on the plane is nothing but seven months of biting your nails and twiddling your thumbs. This section will attempt to cover what happens to you from the time you put your application in the mail, to the day you are officially accepted into the JET Program and the location of your new home is revealed. This turns out to be about a five month process. If you are graduating college the same year you are applying to JET this turns out to be quite a stressful five months. I'm sure it's stressful for everyone, but when you have to put future plans on hold in order to wait for your acceptance, things get real crazy real fast.

- Once you get accepted -

What do I need to take care of before I go? I will attempt to give you an idea of what you need to accomplish before you get on the plane. What to do and what not to do... take it from me, Mr. Procrastination. I'm giving you the chance to learn from my mistakes. Lesson One: DON'T PROCRASTINATE. I got so caught up in the madness, I got my haircut at the airport on the way out of town.

- Leaving for Japan -

Yay. You're on a plane for a REALLY LONG time. Reality shouldn't hit until you're off the ground and you realize that the person next to you is just as freaked out as you are. So enjoy the peanuts and the inflight movie, cause you're going to be in Japan for a loooong time. This section will outline the events of the next 72 hours of your life from the time your plane lands at Narita International Airport in Chiba, Japan to the moment just after your supervisor drops you off at your new home.
